Cristiano Ronaldo’s fans have urged the superstar to leave Al-Nassr following the team’s dismal performance in a friendly match against Porto.
In their third pre-season friendly, Al-Nassr was heavily beaten 4-0 by Porto. Despite the presence of high-profile players like Sadio Mane, Marcelo Brozovic, and Otavio, the team, led by coach Luis Castro, struggled throughout the match, conceding goals from the first half.
Notably, Ronaldo was absent from the lineup, taking a break after a disappointing Euro 2024 with Portugal. Given Al-Nassr’s poor performance, fans have been vocal in their calls for the 39-year-old to leave the a club this summer.
Some fans expressed their frustration, with one stating, “Ronaldo should leave this team.”
Another fan commented, “Cristiano Ronaldo deserves better; this team is shameful.”
A third fan added, “Our players played terribly! We only have a few weeks to fix things; otherwise, this season will be very difficult.”
A fourth fan shared, “Good luck to anyone watching Al-Nassr next season. I won’t waste my time with this team if they don’t have the money to sign new players.”
Indeed, Al-Nassr has struggled without their star player Cristiano Ronaldo. Last season, Ronaldo played 51 matches across all competitions, scoring 50 goals and providing 13 assists. Despite these impressive stats, Ronaldo’s efforts did not translate into trophies for Al-Nassr due to overall team weaknesses.
Al-Nassr reached the finals of the Riyadh Season Cup and Kings Cup but lost both to arch-rivals Al-Hilal. Their performance in the Saudi Pro League was similarly disappointing, with Ronaldo and his teammates finishing behind Al-Hilal once again.
Ronaldo is expected to rejoin his teammates when Al-Nassr faces Al Taawon in the Saudi Super Cup semi-finals.
