A fan invaded the pitch, causing a serious security breach, before being swiftly removed during Romania’s 3-0 victory over Ukraine in their Euro 2024 Group E match.
In the game between Romania and Ukraine at Euro 2024, a supporter wearing a yellow jersey appeared from the stands behind Ukraine’s goal during a corner kick.
The fan attempted to approach Romanian star Nicolae Stanciu but was quickly escorted off the field by stadium officials. The match resumed swiftly with Romania leading 3-0 in their Group E encounter.
There was an electrifying atmosphere inside the Allianz Arena in Munich, largely fueled by passionate Romanian fans who generated a tremendous amount of noise. Some fans were even moved to tears as their team made its first appearance at the Euro finals in 24 years.
The recent victory was a fantastic gift from Romania’s national team to their enthusiastic supporters. Stanciu broke the deadlock late in the first half. Razvan Marin then doubled Romania’s lead in the 53rd minute with a long-range strike. Finally, Denis Dragus sealed the 3-0 victory just four minutes later with a close-range shot.
Romania and Ukraine are in Group E along with Belgium and Slovakia. Romania’s next match will be against Belgium on June 23, followed by Slovakia on June 27.
It’s worth noting that Romania has only been eliminated in the group stage once before in Euro history, back in 2000 when they reached the quarter-finals before losing 0-2 to the runners-up Italy.
