Jurgen Klopp revealed a possible solution to Liverpool’s left-back problem after Robertson and Tsimikas suffered injuries respectively.
Liverpool is suffering personnel losses at the left-back position. After Andrew Robertson had just undergone surgery, it was Kostas Tsimikas’ turn to dislocate his shoulder after a collision with Bukayo Saka last weekend.
With both of the above names having to sit out due to physical problems, coach Jurgen Klopp plans to push Joe Gomez to play on the left wing as a temporary solution. Speaking to reporters, the German strategist shared: “Gomez can play all the upcoming matches until Robertson returns. Tsimikas will definitely have to rest for a while.
I don’t have time to think carefully now, but I’m pretty sure about the name that plays at left-back. For us, the lack of personnel is obviously very difficult.”
“Sometimes players get injured and we accept all of that. Tsimikas’s injury is very bad and he could be out for a long time. Same with Robertson: another serious injury, all we all know. Now we have Gomez there and we have to make sure he is always ready for the matches,” added the former Borussia Dortmund captain.
After a disappointing goalless draw against Manchester United last weekend, “The Kop” continued to have a points-sharing match with top team Arsenal. Gabriel Magalhaes opened the scoring for the away team at the beginning of the first half, but Mohamed Salah’s excellent solo effort helped Liverpool restore balance.
