Despite being in top form for Manchester City, Phil Foden asserts that he still has areas to improve, especially ahead of the clash against Manchester United in the FA Cup final.
Phil Foden has been the standout performer for Manchester City recently. At the age of 23, the English star has delivered impressive displays to help Manchester City clinch a record fourth consecutive Premier League title.
The England international has scored 27 goals and provided 11 assists across all competitions, his best-ever season tally. This has also led to Foden being honored as the Premier League Player of the Season for 2023/24 and being a favorite contender for the Ballon d’Or.
Foden is poised to end the season with more honors as Manchester City takes on rivals Manchester United in the FA Cup final on May 25.
Ahead of the tense encounter, the Manchester City star affirms that he still has weaknesses to address. Foden told the BBC, “I try and work on my weaknesses in training. There’s a lot. There’s a lot of steps to take. I think defensively I need to help my teammates more. Win more duals, be a bit stronger. That’s the list of things I want to do. Hopefully, I’ll keep working hard and become stronger.”
Foden is regarded as the biggest threat that the Manchester United defense will face in the upcoming final. It was Foden who scored twice against Manchester United in the Premier League match at Old Trafford.
If he wins the FA Cup final and performs well with England at Euro 2024, there will be no reason for Foden not to be confident about clinching his first Ballon d’Or in his career.
