The preliminary squad list of the Spain national team for Euro 2024 is missing many notable names such as Gavi, Ansu Fati, Isco, and Asensio.

On the evening of May 27th (Vietnam time), the Spanish national team announced a preliminary squad of 29 players to prepare for Euro 2024.

This squad list has drawn considerable attention due to the unfortunate absence of several top players like Gavi, Ansu Fati, Isco, and Asensio.

Most of these notable absences are due to injuries that these players have suffered, ranging from mild to severe.

For instance, Gavi, the midfielder from Barcelona, sustained an anterior cruciate ligament injury during a match between the Spanish national team and Georgia in the Euro qualifiers last October. He underwent surgery afterward and is expected to be out of action for at least 10 months, as confirmed by the Spanish national team medical staff, thus ruling him out of Euro 2024.

Another case is Isco, the 32-year-old midfielder who has suffered a broken fibula in his left leg and has been confirmed to be unavailable for Euro 2024, according to the latest announcement from his club.

Isco and Gavi both suffered unfortunate injuries. In addition to these injuries, the decision of Luis de la Fuente has also received consensus agreement regarding the absence of Asensio and Ansu Fati, attacking stars currently playing abroad but not in top form for their respective clubs (PSG in France and Brighton in England).

Furthermore, Lucas Vazquez of Real Madrid is also not included in the squad list. Speaking at the squad announcement ceremony, the 62-year-old coach emphasized, “Time has helped to strengthen relationships, and I feel that this team is a family with very strong connections. We have built a cohesive group, which is the best foundation for the upcoming challenges.”
