Sadio Mane is reportedly being eyed by last season’s “LaLiga horse” – Girona, and is planning to return to Europe after a year in Arabia.
The forward Mane and star Cristiano Ronaldo may have played their last match together as the Senegalese striker is rumored to be on his way back to the European stage next season. Currently, Al-Nassr has yet to comment on this information.
Sadio Mane and Cristiano Ronaldo are currently one of the devastating duos of the Saudi Pro League. They have both contributed significantly to Al-Nassr’s second-place position this season, with Ronaldo and Mane scoring a combined total of 53 goals for the Saudi giants. For the former Liverpool striker personally, he has scored 14 goals and made 10 assists in 38 matches across all competitions in his first season in the Saudi Pro League.
With Girona, the “brother” club of Manchester City will participate in Europe’s top-tier competition – the UEFA Champions League next season. Although not highly rated, there were times when Girona topped the LaLiga standings. They faltered notably against the true champions named Real Madrid. Carlo Ancelotti’s team defeated Girona in both legs and eventually reclaimed the top spot from Girona.
Participation in the Champions League also means Girona needs to assemble a higher-quality, more balanced squad with greater rotation options, with one of the targets being Sadio Mane. If he wishes to return to the European stage after earning some peaks from the Arab league, Mane will have to significantly reduce his salary to meet Girona’s requirements. The Senegalese forward is considering this idea and may return to Europe once again while his physical condition still ensures his performance.
In addition to Girona, another Arab team, Al Qadisiyah, is also ready to spend money to secure the signature of forward Mane. This super-rich club is reportedly targeting stars from Al-Nassr, along with several other big names, as they prepare for the upcoming Saudi Pro League season. Al Qadisiyah has secured promotion to the Saudi Pro League and remains a wildcard with enough economic potential to compete with any giants like Al Hilal and Al Nassr.
